A home school day with Kelly (30) and her son (9 1/2) and daughter (8).This is my third year homeschooling and my first year using TWTM.
Our day begins at 7:30 am when we all get out of bed. The kids have to have their
chores done and be dressed for the day before they eat breakfast. At 8:30 my husband begins their math lesson and continues until 9 when he leaves for work.
We then do our bible devotions from the Parenting Bible.Since my son will begin 5th grade, we will start the Ancients in the spring. Right now we are working on Florida history. After history I read aloud a story related to our history.
We then work on our Spelling Workout; we complete one lesson a day and then have a test the following day. My kids have a composition book that they transfer their words into and they take this with them and study in the car. While they are doing their spelling lesson we listen to classical music CDs we get at the library.
Next is Latin Primer which we are struggling through; we are hoping to purchase a new Latin program! Somedays we will take a break at this time, depending on how stressed Latin has made us.
We then work on English for a Thoughtful Child; again, we do 1-2 lessons a day. This is mostly an in-depth review of things we have already touched on so we move pretty quickly through this.
When we finish grammar we will work on science and then fine arts. We use Discovering Great Artists and try to pick an artists from the time period we are studying. The kids read aloud to me and to themselves everyday.
This is usually the end of our formal school but we continue with videos about topics we are studying. Three days a week we have football practice and cheerleading(I am the coach, so more planning for me!).
