The Human Body by Taylor
These are the systems we studied:
Brain:
No two brains are alike. The brain weighs about
3 lbs. The outside of the brain holds a hearing station, tasting
station, sight station and smell station. Your brain is the boss
of the whole business inside your body. The brain sends messages
down the spinal cord through the nerves.
Respiratory System:
Your lungs fill with air then they take the oxygen and
send it to the bloodstream which carries it to the heart. The bloodstream
is like a canal that sends precious cargo, things you need to live.
Digestive System:
When you take a bite of food, it is not just you eating
something, it is the beginning of digestion. Your mouth chews the
food into small pieces, you swallow, then the food goes down to your stomach.
Your stomach uses digestive liquids to break the food up even more.
Then the food goes to the little intestines which take the nutrition out.
The waste goes to the big intestine.
Skeleton:
There are 206 bones in your body. Each bone's job
is to hold up or protect a part of your body. Without your bones,
you would fall straight to the floor. Joints hold your bones together.
Bones move by muscles pushing and pulling.
