No reflections on education this week, except for a quote from my mother: certified teacher, elementary school principal, and veteran home educator.
“Everyone wants to quit in November and February. Take a week off.”
If you’re home schooling this week, knock it off and eat some pie.

Ahhh….thank you! *big deep sigh of relief* This is my first year homeschooling and I’m so busy hoping to cover everything that I forget to be flexible.
If my daughter (the gushing fan that she is) had it her way she would ONLY do history from your book!
With all the cleaning and other preparations for Thanksgiving (we have a crowd here, including overnight guests), we had no choice but to take the week off!
AMEN! :)
Excellent advice – especially the pie part!
Oh yeah, that’s just another wonderful perk of homeschooling, right?
DS13 says he is going to do algebra, history and spelling EVERY day and finish by February, even though I told him to take the week off. Makes for good chit chat around the Thanksgiving table when all the other kids are busy with Dance Dance Revolution and your kid’s studying inverse equations…
Hear, hear!
Yep, we took a week off, due to a birthday and Thanksgiving, not to mention that a fall break is good for everyone.
What a wise, wise woman! We took a break. Mostly because of horrible morning sickness but we needed it.
November never bothers me. But every February finds me calling private schools in the area ‘just to check’ tuition prices for the following year. So I take 2 weeks off then. :)
I was just about to quit homeschooling and send the kiddos to “real” school this week. Thanks for the quote. It is just what the doctor ordered, even though it is the first week of December, now.
