Default Anyone have more info on Classical Academic Press's Children's Spanish?

I really like the samples: http://www.classicalacademicpress.co...ler_1thru2.pdf

I would like to know what ages this is recommended for, what the dc is recommended to know before starting, the approximate release date, if there will be consecutive levels, and if the next level would be ready the following year?

I have emailed them and gotten no response.

I looked at a copy of this program at the Cincinnati convention and I was impressed with it as well. They told me that it was recommended for as early as 3rd grade and that it will be pretty similar to Latin for Children. I can't remember the exact release date but I believe it is some time in the spring, and I think they said that there will be subsequent levels. I know - that's not much help is it?

I had almost decided to do Latin next year, but then I saw this and now I want to do Spanish instead. I just can't make up my mind.

I would be interested in knowing what you find out from them if you get a response.

I'd love to know if they are planning any kind of audio component for pronunciation. Did you see something like that at the convention?

What they had at the convention looked like just a printout of the file. It was not nicely bound and printed. I think they had just printed it so they would at least have a sample to look at. I had spent most of my time talking to Dr. Perrin about LFC, then moved to the other end of the booth and saw Spanish for Children. By that time, he was already talking to someone else, so I asked the girl in the booth with him my questions. I am not sure if they are going to do the audio component or not. I believe that she thought they would, but was not sure. There was nothing like that in their booth though.

I called them about the program a few weeks ago. They are very nice on the phone--I would encourage you to call them if you don't hear by e-mail.

The person I spoke to told me it would be available in late spring. I can't remember the cost now but I remember thinking it was pretty cheap--in the $20s I think. The big downside to me is that there is no audio or video component. I don't know if there are plans to add this down the road. But for a program for youngers, I really want them to hear a better example than me. My youngest especially can mimic very well any accent she hears.

Default I can't find the email just now, but

I did email them about 2 weeks ago about this. I had some questions about the new song school latin but noticed the spanish which my kids are really interested in.

I don't remember them giving me a price but I believe they said it would be out in May.

Default Some info...

Since you are all discussing and emailing us Spanish for Children, I am jumping in to give some info!

Spanish for Children is modeled after Latin for Children, so it is intended for students grades three and up, and it is scheduled to be released in May.

There will be an audio pronunciation CD available upon it's release, and we are planning a DVD set to become available in the next year. It is a three year program, each text to be released one per year. We will work toward filling out the program with Activity Books and Readers as in LFC as well.

I hope this helps to answer some questions, and please feel free to ask!

Also, I am very sorry if some of you have not recieved responses to your emails. We have terrible spam, and sometimes, if a "good" email ends up in the "bad" email folder, it is deleted by accident. Please feel free to use our forum, or give us a call!
