Thumbs up I've been living under a rock! GOOGLE EARTH!!!!

WOW!!! I had heard about Google Earth but only now decided to try it out. It's amazing! My dd will be on it tomorrow exploring Ancient Rome and she'll even see the hotel where we stayed in Zakynthos, Greece! There are so many amazing things to see! I almost freaked when it plunged me into the ocean!

For those that have explored Google Earth, do you have any recommendations? How do you use it for your family's school? What are your kids' fave things to do? Places to see?

WOW WOW WOW!!! I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to try it!!!

I knew about Google Earth vaguely but my younger dd discovered a feature where you can go "street level" (I don't know if this is what it's called officially, but this is what she calls it) in some locations, and it's basically like walking around whatever location you're in. We've had so much fun with it. She has seen most of her pen pals' houses across the country, which has been fun for her because all of them live in such different kinds of neighborhoods from each other and from us. We've looked up relatives' houses who live in states we've never visited. We've even seen my brother's neighborhood in Australia!

Red face Hmmm...

I'm gonna have to look at Google Earth again.

My husband played with it for two whole days. We walked away and haven't looked back.

Obviously we didn't figure out its coolest features, eh?

Maybe we need a tutorial in plan English?

My husband found where he could tag all of the "Bigfoot sightings". We are originally from Washington State, and had a hoot of a Saturday morning reading the corresponding accounts. Fun stuff!

When you get done with Google Earth, take a look at the World Wide Telescope.
It reminded me a lot of GE when we first installed it. I'll be using it with Hunter as part of our astronomy study this year.
