Red face Strong High Sch. Lit/English/History program?

My daughter loves history & is a strong writer. We're looking for a program that encourages creative thinking & critiquing what is read rather than comprehension which she has no probs with. We tried Smarr Publishers Ancient Hx last yr & although the reading selections were great, we found the writing aspect weak. She did the work but it was pretty boring. I could create reflective questions on books read but this takes so much time. Any suggestions? Thanks

Have you taken a look at The Well-Trained Mind (3rd edition) and The Well-Educated Mind, both by Susan Wise Bauer? The history/great books program as outlined in her books allows for and encourages a students personal, creative response to great literature.

I have used this approach with my two oldest all through high school with success. It's worth checking out.

Default Tapestry of Grace

I would also suggest that you take a look at Tapestry of Grace. Lots of terrific books; plenty of meaty questions; integrated literature, history, writing, geography, philosophy, government, and fine arts study; and teacher's helps for you.
