Can the hive help?

We are battling high cholesterol as a family - and failing miserably. Dh and dd17 have congenitally high numbers, mine is just due to poor choices and overweight. Up until now, it's not even been on my radar, but it's time to get serious. . . . . .

I'm looking for a book, preferrably with meal plans and recipes, that our family can use to get healthier. We eat wa-a-a-y too much cheese, fats, etc. right now.

Any good titles you'd recommend? Our library system has a bunch, but I'd rather go on a personal recommendation, kwim?

Our church does parents' night out once a month--free childcare so couples can go out together. It's so nice, I could cry, but...

I look forward to it for so long that there's all this pressure, you know? I have absolutely no idea what to do w/ 3hrs alone until the 3hrs are over.

Last time, we went to the grocery store. That fact has grown more & more depressing as the weeks have gone by. Consequently, I've been more & more determined that this time will be better. Hence, more pressure.

I'm hard to live with. :001_huh:

So tonight's parents' night out, & I've been so excited all day. Now, dh will be home in 20 min, & I just want to crawl under the bed & cry. How. dumb.

We are finally at the end of this long, long process of transferring from NG to AD. DH's orders should be cut in the next week. He has to report soon - we've been living off of savings waiting for this all to be processed.

How on earth do we go about arranging for movers? The man who he's been discussing this said to go to the housing office of the nearest installation to arrange the move. THe nearest installation is 2 hours away at Ft. Hood. There is the JRB over in Ft. Worth, but it's Navy, not army. Any ideas? I'm sure some of this will be explained at some point, but I want information sooner than later if any of you can give me the benefit of your experience!

Thanks everyone!

Heather,

I read your post about making sure you covered the grammar in AG before being needed in Homer. If you have a moment, can you tell me if this would be a good plan? My dd is in 4th grade and going through WT1 at about double speed and I hope to finish WT 2 by the end of the year (or soon after). I plan to do JAG in the Spring.

5th grade: Homer/AG Season 1 and Season 2
6th grade: Homer/AG Season 3

My main concern is going too fast for her. We haven't done much formal grammar. If you have a more detailed plan that includes poetry, that would be awesome. I've gleaned a lot from your posts, thanks so much!! Blessings, Gina

We are gearing up for American History next year, and are looking for easy chapter books on the era (beginnings to early 1900s). I've looked at the American Girl series, and some of these will probably end up on our list. Have you read them with a primary grade student? What did you think of the writing quality?

So far, the only "problem" I'm having with the AG books is that there are not enough in the series! There are books for 1764, 1774, 1824, 1854, 1864 & 1904, but I'd also like a chapter book covering earlier times, say 1607 (Jamestown) or 1620 (Plymouth) or the early 1700s (frontier/colonial life).

Any suggestions? We have all girls here, if that helps! :bigear:
