If you are doing (or have done) the year 1 timeline according to Biblical genealogies as mentioned in TOG 1 Units 4 & 5.... is there a resource or some list online that will have dates already calculated?

TOG teacher's notes say you must decide your method of dating and stick to it. Problem is, I'm not sure how to stick to it! I find all the dates confusing because there are so many differing opinions. I'd like to find a way to use the dates that correspond with the Biblical genealogies, but so far I am ending up too confused to proceed!

One further question, when TOG lists actual dates for a person or event in the student timeline assignment, are those dates secular, or according to the method of using genealogies??? Anyone know?

I asked this on the k-8 board, but my guess is that many don't do timelines with their Dialectic level kids. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used the Biblical dates according to Holman's Bible Atlas, Adam and His Kin, Genesis and Their Roots and other commentaries I had here for creation, flood, Tower of Babel and the Bible patriarchs. There are some variations there too so you will have to pick which dates you want to use. Then I used the dates Tapestry suggested for the Egyptians, Greeks, and the rest of the ancient cultures. There were quite a few odd looking entries realizing that archeology and other dating methods aren't completely accurate and don't line up with the Bible events until after the Tower of Babel. Here's how mine looks: 5000 BC Yangshao culture, 4000 BC Creation Week (it was probably earlier)and Ages of the Patriarchs from Adam to Abram, showing around 1700 years until the flood, (if using strict geneology), 3000 BC Early Egyptians, and on 3000 BC page I put Greek Neolithic and Crete cultures with notes 6500-3000 BC., Aegean Bronze Age 2900 to 1000 BC, Minoans on Crete 2800 BC, Egypt's Old Kingdom 2650-2150 BC, Longshan Culture 2500 BC, Indus Culture 2500 BC, Troy Founded 2500 BC, Biblical Flood 2400 BC (it was probably earlier), Tower of Babel 2200 BC (it was probably earlier). Around 2000 BC the dates start lining up a little better and you can just use the TOG dates. It will coincide pretty well with the end of Genesis and the rest of the Bible within a couple of hundred years at least. I had a lot of fun researching all of this and really don't have a problem with the inconsistent dates, knowing that nothing happened before creation, everything was wiped out in the flood and all cultures began after the tower of Babel regardless of the dates if you believe the Biblical account. Clear as mud?
