Dd has taken AP Biology this yr. She had a 91% average at mid term and with this class you can't tell their average until the end of the term.

Anyway, I bought her the AP Bio study book in January and told her she needed to start studying then and why it was important and necessary to start early. She already studies about 10hrs/week. Well, she didn't start studying the AP guide until last week. She can finish the book and review all the labs plus do a trial test by the test date on Monday. She's on CH 6 out of 15, so she hasn't reviewed everything yet.

I scored the multiple choice portion of her first trial test today and it was 49%:tongue_smilie: I assume she'll do worse on the essay portion which requires actual recall.

From what I understand you need 50% correct to get a 3. Would you bother taking the test? It has been ordered and the school is an hour away.

Well, if she can pull a 3 out of the hat, that might mean not having to take intro bio. in college, saving on tuition, plus having taken the test looks good...I'd have her go for it and take the test. She may well score at least a 3.

I'd let her take it too. The experience may jump start her studying next time.

Also, when searching the College Board site for the homeschool codes, I happened upon something that claimed you could have an AP test score deleted (ie. permanently) from your record.

A couple of considerations:

From College Board:
AP Grade Reports are sent in July to the college or university you designated on your answer sheet, to you, and to your high school. Each report is cumulative and includes grades for all the AP Exams you have ever taken, unless you have requested that one or more grades be withheld from a college or canceled. Visit AP Grade Reporting Services. (emphasis added)

Also, a solid week of studying with a good review book can make a lot of difference. Don't underestimate the jump she could get by putting in lots of solid study hours this week.

Thanks everyone for your input. My first reaction was AAUGH! I wasn't nagging her too much to study since I felt she was responsible for her choices. But, she's only just turned 15 and so this is probably really stressful for her. I guess we'll see what happens.

So that would be a good fall back position. We are going to try to clep it this summer sometime.
