I haven't posted here much, I'm more of a lurker, but I'm a devoted lurker. :p

I am following the WTM suggestions for LA. My 7yo is using Spelling Workout book A and nearly done. As we move into book B, do I need the teacher's guide? What about beyond that? Also, my 2nd son will be a "first grader" for fall, would I move him into Spelling Workout A even if he's not done with the Ordinary Parents Guide?

Edited for silly typo! :D

I'm pretty sure the suggestion is to start SWO A when you are on Lesson 140 of the OPG. I think that's the correct lesson, I have a sticky tab on that lesson and I believe that's the reason.

In my opinion you will never need the teacher's guide for SWO.

Yea, I'm with Mrs. M.--we're on C and there's no guide needed.

And I'm assuming you meant to say your second son will be a first grader in the fall, right? lol
SWO A is not phonetic in the first few lessons, focusing on consonants, then short vowels. I mean, all the words won't necessarily be cvc words. But don't let that deter you.

that I spent money I didn't need to when I puchased the Teacher's Guide. I don't think I will ever use it!

Thanks everyone - glad to know I don't need to spend the money on teachers guides. And thanks for the tip on when to start on SWO with boy #2.

And yes Chris - I meant my 2nd son that will be in first grade! I edited my post just for vanity LOL.
