I figure my reading level is about 5th or 6th grade. I have had very little science and my only world history has been reading (and taking notes) my way through Kingfisher History Encyclopedia. I'd like to have a plan, but keep finding myself going all over the place. I do better with structure. The only subject I am probably past 6th grade level in is math.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this together?

Also, money is definitely a issue.

Thanks,
Luanne

Choose one of the AO years and follow that year's plan. I'm reading many of the yr. 7 books.

Most libraries carry at least a few of the Teaching Co titles. I would suggest checking to see what science and history titles yours might have. I can't even begin to describe how much I have learned from them. Combine those with reading books on the topic, and you are on your way to a solid self-education program. :)

I agree with Michelle about Ambleside...I actually LOVED level 1..and you could probably read it all aloud to one of your younger kids. OK...I loved Year 2 &3 & 4 & 5.....I read as much of it as possible with my kiddoes....Even the early levels are mind enhancing and will stretch your learning levels. Also, many of the books are online for free. Also, for math...there is a leveled program that is CM friendly from the UK called CIMT...it is available in PDF format to print and it is easy to get the code for the keys...just tell them you homeschool.

Good Luck LuAnne!!
As you homeschool your kiddoes, you will gain a wonderful education too. i know I have and I continue to add to it daily.
