We are finishing Latina Christiana I and I was thinking of switching to Galore Park Latin Prep. Does anyone know which Latin Prep book I would start with? Has anyone made this transition?

Your LC work will help you go thru the first few exercises fairly quickly. But then you'll be into new territory fairly quickly.
And, y'know, different vocabulary, different grammar presented in a different order ... it all adds up to needing to start at the beginning.

I think you'd need to start with Book 1. Have you looked at the samples at the Galore Park website?

The samples are extremely helpful.

We started in Latin Prep I and like it SO much more than LC. It explains things well and is colorful and fun to read. It gets them translating things on the first page, which was a boost to my son's confidence.
Have fun!

Yep, start with Book 1. The background you have from LC will help you, but it won't allow you to skip any of Latin Prep.

Is the Latin Prep I the same as So You Really Want to Learn Latin I? And the standard question. . . where's the best place to buy these? Thanks!

They are different although I am not knowledgeable enough to know how. I am ordering mine through horriblebooks.com He has them in stock and he is here in the US so they will get to me faster!

No, those are two different series. The So You REally series is for older children. You want Latin Prep 1 Book, Answer Key and some people like the workbooks as well. You can order these from www.horriblebooks.com. Ray takes orders and then places a bulk order from England several times a year. The information for the next order will be on the website. The plus here is a discounted price and low shipping (as opposed to overseas). If you can't wait, some people have ordered from Book Depository. www.bookdepository.co.uk I think that's right. These books won't be discounted and may not be in stock but the shipping is free. You can also order directly from Galore Park but overseas shipping ain't cheap!

Actually, prices from Book Depository often *are* discounted, and depending on what one is ordering, it's sometimes cheaper to take the free shipping from Book Depository than to make an order through Ray. I've done both several times with good experiences.

I'll check out Ray and book depository. . . I'm psyched to move into something a bit more exciting than LC. . .

Oh. Good to know. Thanks.

If you would like to join the Galore Park Yahoo group (link in my siggy) you are very welcome.
Here are some links for samples and shipping:

The books are available in the US from www.horriblebooks.com (Ray may have some on hand - otherwise he orders periodically in batches) or direct from the UK with free shipping from www.bookdepository.co.uk. I've used BD several times; service has always been excellent and very swift.
I have no financial connection with Galore Park - I'm just an enthusiast for many of their products.
Best wishes
Laura
