Waaah! I have to disappoint my 14yo ds this morning.

I just got an e-mail that his CAP campout this weekend was cancelled. This kid was packed last week! We went out together and spent money on the supplies he didn't have and his Dad bought him brand new combat boots. Aargh. I swear that's all he's been thinking about for the last 2 weeks.

Now we are going to have one pouting 14yo. :(

I empathize, my son would not take the dissappoinment well either. 14 seems to be a somewhat fragile age for boys. Worst of all it is not your fault, but you have to deliver the bad news. Maybe let him read the e-mail for himself. Then be there to consol him. I hate being the bad guy KWIM

Man, I was excited for him. It sounded like an incredible opportunity. Is it weather related, the reason they've cancelled? No reschedule, huh? I'm so sorry!

Mrs. Readsalot is right -- let the email be the one to break the news, and then you be there to break the fall.

Maybe he and his Dad could do something else instead? Go indoor rock climbing? Camp someplace nearby as soon as possible? Ugh, I'm grasping at straws, I know. I just feel his (and your) pain.
