DD (nearly 7) is about to finish Beta. I am nearly grey....its been a difficult time (attitude wise) between lesson 15 and 25.:tongue_smilie: I finially clicked on that she was bored by the number of problems she had to do, so I am finishing of Beta by skipping alot of pages (I'm learning!!).

DD has done Primer, Alpha and Beta in 12months (with alot of breaks/ holidays).

So should I try and slow her down in Gamma? Should I continue to skip lots of pages? Or should I just expect her to do 1 page a day and thats it. I do not want a repeat of the last couple of months behaviour of taking 2 hours to do one page that she could do in 5 mins if she wanted to.

We still need to do alot of work in Language Arts to "catch up" and she is only just beginning to read....so i'm not too worried about going a slower pace in maths, however I dont want her to become totally bored in maths and just refuse to do anything (like she was in mid Beta).

What was your schedule for Gamma?

TIA
Fi - still trying to get a handle on the way her DD learns.

We found Gamma to be much more fun. We made challenges for the mult. tables and did lots of hands on multiplying. This kept my boys more interested. We also supplemented with lots of other math work to keep them interested while still memorizing the tables. (Singapore, random word problem books, science that uses lots of math, etc.)

Don't feel like you have to do all the problems, either. I give my boys 10 problems a day - 5 review, 5 new. If they get them all right, then they are done with that skill and we move on for the day. We to keep them fresh and make sure that they really have it. They prefer this to pages and pages of worksheets.

Good luck.
