OK, ladies, I just got new contacts...one for distance and one for up-close. These replace progressive trifocal glasses, which I'd had for 12 years or so. How long d'you think it will take me to adapt. Right now, I am blinking a LOT and the focus is shifting in/out. The eye exam today may mean my eyes are extra tired, too...lots of bright lights and puffs of air and different lenses. Sigh. I feel old.

Dear Laurel,
When you go for your checkup, make sure the doctor checks for the right fit.
I also did not have any luck with contacts when what I needed was trifocals. I had to go to progressive lenses, which I do NOT like compared to contacts but which I like a LOT compared to the not-seeing I was doing with contacts.
It sounds like you are doing "monovision"--this was easy for me because I had one "lazy eye" that didn't do any work unless it was specifically told to do so. For people who see stereoscopically (most people) this can be a tough transition.
But I will bet that you might want to consider stereo bi-focal lenses with reading glasses for the up-close work. That's what I am considering going to if I can just make myself spring for yet another set-up.
Kind regards,
Patty
