We have not waded into this yet...

Oldest ds will be starting 7th grade. I have Critical Thinking I, Art of Argument, and Intro. Logic. I just dont know where to start? Would you use all of these, or something different?

He has done Mind Benders on the computer, and a little of the BTS software.

help??

Thanks,
Kim

Hi Kim,

There have been several good threads on logic lately. I'll link a couple, though you will find more with the logic tag.

You might find a path through the logic maze in some of these discussions. :) And to answer a bit of your question, no, I wouldn't use all the curricula you listed. I've used and like the BTS Level 3 program (especially Language). I love the analogies, thinking through the connotation and denotation of words, etc. I could take or leave the spatial skills books, though 2 of my dc worked through them. But, BTS is not really *logic.* It doesn't get into the theory of formal logic.

Lisa

Here is our logic sequence that has worked well for our kids in a classical co-op:
5th & 6th grade: Building Thinking Skills and Mind Benders
7th grade: Fallacy Detective and Art of Argument (these go well together)
8th grade: Logic I: Tools for Thinking by Norman Birkett. (www.classicallegacypress.com)
9th grade: Introductory and Intermediate Logic by Nance/Wilson

Out of what you have, I'd use Critical Thinking first, followed by Art of Argument, and then Intro Logic.

We (ds 8th grade & I) are enjoying Critical Thinking 1, so I've gotten #2 for when we finish.:001_smile:
