Need a book with Friendship as a theme...

and my daughter is very opposed to reading Fellowship of the Ring (I know - I'm working on her).

Any ideas?

Has she read The Chosen? Beautiful, poignant book about two Jewish boys, one orthodox, one not growing up in New York during WWII.

Northanger Abbey, All Quiet on the Western Front, Huck Finn, Secret Life of Bees, Sisterhood of the Traveling pants.
Those are the first that come to mind.

I cannot think of a better book with more ways of looking at friendship and fellowship than this one. We listened to it on audio last summer and dd 12 just loved it. Sissy Spacek narrates this wonderful story.
