Yikes, I really need color, but I'm afraid that I'll get someone who will fry my hair. :( My hair's pretty fine, so it won't take a beating. I also want someone who knows what they're doing with the cut.
I'm not a Supercuts gal... for the boys yes, me? No.

If you don't mind approaching complete strangers, find some women around the town in various places and ask them who they go to. If you see someone who has hair you like or has hair like yours, just ask, explaining that you are new in the area and don't know where to go!

Ask any girl with cute hair (cut, color, and similar texture) who she uses. Get a few recommendations. When I moved to our current town, EVERY woman I met used the same salon, but preferred different stylists based on personality.

You don't.
You cry and gnash your teeth and hide out for eight months with ugly hair.
Ask me how I know.

Ack! I think it's been... 6 months... do you know how obvious the grow-out is? ;)

Agreeing with others... Look around the grocery store or Target, wherever, and when you see someone whose hair you like, screw up your courage and say, "Your hair is sooo cute! You know, I'm new here and really need to find a stylist I can trust... Do you mind telling me where you go? Thank you sooo much!" ;)
I know it can be hard, but if you start with a complement, most people won't automatically assume you're crazy. ;)

When we moved here I posted on our homeschool group email loop. Do you have something like that? Maybe ask ladies at the church or the library?
