I'm considering block scheduling for some of EK's 9th grade classes next school year.

I am thinking that we should spread math (finishing Algebra 1 & starting Geometry) over the entire year instead of doing it for just a semester -- because if EK doesn't practice math pretty much every day, she doesn't seem to retain the concepts.

I'm also unsure about block scheduling for Apologia Biology. It's pretty time-intensive, so I'm wondering if it could be done in a semester.

And how would block scheduling work for studying Latin (Galore Park), history, and lit/comp (we use TRISMS, so our lit & comp is driven by our history studies)?

What pros & cons have you experienced with block sceduling? Any words of wisdom for us?

We use a modified block schedule. Lighter subjects are done each day, heavier ones (science, grammar/comp) every other day. It seems to work well in that it allows more time to get in-depth with the subject. This might not work well with kids with a shorter attention span.

I agree with doing math all year. The kids will lose it if they don't use it.
