If you were to set the last year of HS or after graduation at home...
1st......What courses would you pick?
2nd.....Which curriculum/resources would you use?
I browsed the net and found three main courses...Eng., Science and Math. Some have Reading Comprehension and "college life"?:glare:whatever.
How would you set it the schedule?
Thanks in advance for your brainstorming.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you asking what one might use for a 5th year of high school (a post-graduation year)? or are you asking what one should use during the four years prior to graduation to be well prepared for college?

I mean using the 4th year (12th) as College Prep
or
doing a College Prep year (5th year, not included on transcript).
I rather have 12th as a "prep", graduate her and then the next two years do on line/distance education to try to tackle some of the "basic" first years courses of college.
I hope am coming clear now:).

If I understand what you are going to do with your student it is what I will be doing with mine to some degree. For us we have looked at three different colleges that have the major she wishes to pursue. We have looked at their willingness to accept clep credits and their distance learning courses. She will be able to clep out of all of her subjects like math, science, history, english and such and finish getting her BS in three semesters at the university she decides on.
So for us we are using her fourth and fifth year of highschool to work on clep credits, distance learning and classes at a study center close to home that has courses that would be helpful to her in life and her major.

:iagree: That is what I was asking if it was possible and if so, which would be the courses that constitute the basic first two years of college? What are they call? Where I find material to be able to work it at home?
or
CLEP and Distance Courses are the main options?
:confused:I do not know:confused: I apologize if I do not make sense.
Thanks for your reply Debbie, that is exactly what I was thinking in doing, if is ok to do.

There are two useful resourses that I really like: the first is a yahoo group call ClepForHomeschool this you can ask questions and get some very useful help and suggestions and the second is
http://clepprep.tripod.com/cleplessonplans/id4.html
Here you will find lesson plans for the different types of test your student can study and take.
You will also find that your student depending on what they major in can get their entire degree by clep and online classes.

Whether you are a Christian or not, you will find this book extremely helpful:
College Without Compromise by Scott and Kris Wightman, ISBN-10 0977351904. The book is out of print but you can get it from Amazon marketplace sellers.
It tells how to get degrees entirely by distance learning, from the "big three" regionally accredited colleges: Thomas Edison, Charter Oak, and Excelsior.
If you plan for your student to eventually transfer into a brick & mortar 4-year college, you would need to begin researching that scenario right now as well.
