Someone gave us some ground venison and some steaks. I was so excited ! I fixed the ground tonight. It kind of skeeved me out. I forced myself to eat it, but I had the heebie jeebies. Weird! I have 5 more packages of this stuff plus the steaks in my freezer! Sigh, very disappointing.

I'm not sure I understand...what about it gave you the heebie jeebies? The taste? The texture? The thought of it?

How did it taste? We were invited to a dinner where buffalo (bison) meat was served. I was disgusted at first. But, as it was the main dish, I took some. I was STARVING, so I actually ate it. And, it was really good!!! We now eat mostly bison instead of ground beef.

We were given some venison once too. I couldn't eat it. I didn't like it though.

What did your kids think? If they liked it, I wouldn't let it go to waste!! Serve it to them when you have a salad. Or, even better, plan to go out with a friend that night! :D

I don't know. I was cooking it and I felt kind of weird about it. The smell was fine, not strong at all. I have no idea what it was that made me feel so strange. Maybe the idea of it? But I grew up eating this stuff. That's why it was so strange to me.

Doesn't make sense does it? (yeah, I'm kind of weird that way sometimes)

It may have just been a funny tummy thing that happened to coincide with fixing this stuff. Hmm, I am trying to figure it out. The kids loved it! I made it taco style and had mine on a salad.

Poor thing! I hope you aren't coming down with something.

(It was probably the mental image of little Bambi cavorting through the forest that skeeved you out! Sorry...couldn't resist!)

LOL!

I am feeling kind of like I have reflux so maybe that's why. I keep coughing and feel strange now in the GI area. I have had this off and on for a few days. I went in for allergy testing, but I have no real allergies. However, we decided that I am hyper-sensitive with a lot of intolerances. Not sure what they all are either. So I have been thinking there is a connection with this feeling and some food. Just don't know what!

And yes, I did think of Bambi!

Hmmm. What comes to my mind is, "Are you preggers?"

Maybe you could have a sensitivity to something that they used in the processing of the meat? Just guessing here.

SNORT! Ummm, NOPE! No way no how. HAHAHAHA! Thanks for asking though. :D

I do think that some things are affecting me in weird ways. I will wait a while before I fix it again to make sure the current symptoms are gone and can test it out to see.

Next time you fix some just chant to yourself.........."I like venison, it COULD be mountain oysters, venison is good."

I think that would definitely do the trick! LOL!
