Is this really NOT designed for 8th grade? There are so many different views on this program. I was planning on allowing my 13yr.old, 8th grader to work through it very slowly over the next 2 yrs. However, I don't want something that's going to overwhelm or frustrate her.

I think it really depends on her ability. Have you checked out their website and sample pages? That will give you a better idea as to whether or not she is able to handle it.
