We have a big oak trees around our house. Consequently, we also have big squirrels around our house. Generally, we love seeing them, but we just went up into our jungle gym fort for the first time since the fall, and there's squirrel poop everywhere
Do squirrels carry disease and stuff? Just how squicked out should I be? Is there any way to discourage them from running around in the fort?
TIA!

Shoot, shovel and shut up.
But, if you're feeling more humane than that, maybe some sort of covering over the fort? Squirrels are the hardest things to keep out of a place, though, crafty little critters. Nothing seems to work for long.
Personally, I'd just send the kids up with a broom. I wouldn't be terribly "squicked" (love that word!).

ROFLOL...thanks for that Doran.
I was thinking perhaps an outdoor cat or pet of some kind.

A cat would help unless the trees overhang the gym... the droppings will just fall from the tree to the gym anyway.
I was actually thinking tazers. I can hear the poor little squirrels now, "Don't taze me bro'!"

We have squirrels everywhere! They're naughty little critters :p
Last year I reprimanded my children for tearing the outdoor cushions ("I didn't do it..." they all claimed). Came home to watch two little squirrels ripping the material and carry the stuffing up into the tree...and watch it drop. ROFLMBO
It was entertaining, but still don't want them part of our daily lives.
I vote for banishing them from the fort! Do you have a dog to chase them? While they're cute, the kiddos shouldn't be playing in their vicinity.
