I'm working on an exact schedule, but I don't have it ready yet. You can PM with your email and I could sent it to you when I get it finished. But, it may be a while. I'm due anytime in the next 2 weeks with a new little one!

I'm hoping to schedule readings for myself from "The History of the Catholic Church" from the Diadache series, so that I can fill in appropriate info. I actually used this this week when we were reading about the catacombs in SOTW 1. It had pictures for the kids and I read a couple of sections.

I'm also planning to read with my 2nd grader the appropriate saints stories from "Saints: Lives and Illuminations" and "More Saints: Lives and Illuminations." We also own the different saint novels that Seton sells. The "Along the Paths of the Gospel" and "Encounter the Saints" series will be on her reading level. She will read books from these series that go with the time period.

I've also pre-read a lot of books to go along with the time period to make sure they are appropriate. They not necessarily 'Catholic,' but I definitely wanted to weed out anything non-Catholic. The novel "The Door in the Wall," which will be a read-aloud, is about a boy during the plague who is taken care of by some monks in a monastery. I thought it was good.

I'd love the hear what others have done!

We did SOTW vol I this year. I just used Bible History when we came across areas that were in the bible. Next year will be a different story with vol II. I purchased "An Overview Of Catholic History" by Katie Torrey. It list website to visit, Books, and curriculum suppliers. It than goes in order of year and what to cover for Councils, Saints, Martyrs, and Popes. It gives reading suggestions for a certain time line along with movies and more websites. It starts with Crucifixion and goes to the year 2005. Each page covers about 100 years. It also has questionnaires to answer as you study each Saint, Martyrs, and Pope.

We may also do L.P.H online Medieval History. This is an online Catholic program. My dd took the creating writing course this year and has really enjoyed it. The price is right too.

Hope this helps. Oh, dd will be 6th grade next year.

We added in the book '57 Saints' - it worked well as the book covers the Saints in chronological order (with dates provided), and is written in a similar, narrative style. By using the timeline, I could figure out when to read the story of each saint.
