Integrated Mathematics by McDougal Littell: http://www.mcdougallittell.com/ml/math.htm?level2Code=IM&lvl=3

I have a friend who teaches high school math and she recommended it to me. It sounds as if it blends and rearranges traditional lessons in a more meaningful way...very similar to Singapore, but includes mathematical terminology which Singapore doesn't use much of.

Lessons appear to include lots of discussion starters...an interesting concept to me.

Has anyone used this? Could anyone more mathy than me share your thoughts on how it looks to you?

You might consider posting this query on the high school board. I'd also be interested in learning more about it. My ds in in 6th and currently doing TT Algebra I. I've heard that the material covered in this course is more like pre-algebra, which is fine for us of course given his age! I'm not sold on staying with TT and am still trying to figure out our math scope and sequence over the next few years. We started out this year trying to do NEM 1 and floundered. I really do think it makes alot of sense to do algebra and geometry together instead of separating them out into different years. This integrated text has the potential to be good alternative to NEM. I looked on ebay and you can get the texts quite cheaply. I'm afraid I'd need the teacher's guide or answer key which would be harder to come by. Anyway, if you don't post this on the high school board, I might!:)

Thanks, I'll try over there. On the link I shared, there is a button to request a free sample. This is for schools, of course, but if you have any friends in high places in the public school realm, they can request a sample which would include a TM, Solutions, and Text.

I haven't used it, but if you're looking for something that makes math very meaningful but is more challenging than SM in a different way, there is a free program called MEP. The link is http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mep/default.htm There are also some Russian Math programs out there that are good, but it depends on which grade level you're looking for.
