Can you tell me how long it will take a bottle raised baby to catch up with her pasture buddies? "Baby" is just not as big as her half sisters, and her coat is not as nice. A couple of the other foals are STILL nursing, a couple have been weaned, but all (except the pony foal) are bigger than baby. Baby's dam is the smallest QH mare at 14.2.

I'm going to pull her in beginning today and feed her by herself, with a higher quality hay than is out for them eat in big round bales in the pasture. We've got alfalfa too.

She doesn't look bad, not underweight. Healthy. Just not as glossy looking as the others. And bless her heart, she's weird. Prefers to hang out by herself or me. I was hoping that by the time they were all yearlings she wouldn't stand out as much.

Was she premature? What happened with the mare that the filly ended up bottle feeding? If she had any problems with dysmaturity or septicemia after birth then maybe there will be some growth issues. Do you have any problems with hypothyroidism on your place? Has she been dewormed? So many questions, so little time! The coat thing bothers me a little although I am glad to hear she is normal weight. How old is she now? I'll try to keep checking back.:)
