LL - Early American Lit - Writing question.

I am using this with my 9th grader in the fall and wondering if the writing instruction and prompts are sufficient or if I need to reference other writing curriculum? If you used this, can you share your experience?

I actually have IEW B, along with Wordsmith Craftsman. I think our writing is our weakest area so I want to start out on the right foot in this area.
