Any recommendations for a great High School Geography program? This would be for an 11th grader.
Thank you.

I am going to be using this next year for my dd's 9th grade and 11th grade. It is plenty meaty enough for an 11th grader. I am going to assign the semester projects listed in the TM. I am also going to pull in videos from different countries. We will be choosing literature that goes along with the countries we are studying. I am really looking forward to it.

I'm going to be using Human Geography (Wiley Publisher) for my 9th grader next year. I'm planning to supplement it with The Hungry Planet, and The World is Flat, and numerous travel essays and videos. Hope this helps.

I'm considering BJP too. Do you have all the books for this? Just curious if they do indeed take a travel theme throughout where the student goes on a trip to all the countries. Do you think the activity manual is worth the $? I already have a ton of map books here, atlases and the like so not sure if I need to get 'everything'.
Thanks!

We loved the Hungry Planet.......we also got to hear 2 missionary presentations from India and Uganda. This went along well with those. Think outside the box......geography can be fun!

I've heard good things about "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Geography" by Runkle. I bought the book at our last book sale and it looks really good.

I like the GeoMatters program. We use it along with our history studies.
www.geomatters.com (http://www.geomatters.com). You can do as much or as little as you want. I found it to be a great deal for the money.

I do have all the books. The activity book is more than just maps. I think there is lots of good stuff in there and makes it worth the money. The textbook is laid out in a travel around the world theme. They call it "the Grand Tour". I am very excited to use this because it is so much more than just maps and physical geography.

I am glad to know that this program is nicely fleshed out, but does it include maps and physical geopgraphy as well?
Thanks! I plan to use this year AFTER next. Where are all those threads about the contant planners?? :D

The first 4 chapters are dedicated to general physical geography. The activity guide contains a lot of mapping activities. I think it is a very well done text.

I love Runkle and will be using it next with my middler. However, the OP should be aware that the Runkle text is World Physical Geography -- more of earth science. The student book does have names and places activities. We'll be using Runkle as a science text and combining with Mapping the World by Heart, living books and hands-on projects.
