Has anyone used this curriculum?

I'm thinking about using it with my second grader this coming fall. We've already covered through the Greeks, so I would pick up there...I'm just wondering what others opinions on it are. It seems very thorough to me...including history, activities, and literature readings, as well as sacred myths of various religions.

We used it this year and the kids loved it. However, I have come to think that it is too time-intensive. We were regularly spending an hour a day on history. I dropped most of the supplemental activities (websites and crafts) and we just used the reading schedules and the History Pockets book. I also added in a bunch of non-fiction books on each history topic.

I think that Mosiac is an excellent curriculum and it's perfect for those who like to tweak because there is so much material to choose from. April has a spreadsheet up for year 2 and I used it as the base for my plans for second grade history.

I wanted to add that we did use the maps and we did make the timeline. My kids were kinda "meh" on the maps but they loved the timeline.

I think we will probably not do maps this year...just have him learn where things are in general on a globe. He loves timelines, so I think we'll keep up with that.

I've considered continuing on with HIH or going with QAW, but I think Mosaic is going to be the best bet for us. I probably won't be able to include all the activities since ds excels at science and we focus on that (while still making sure he gets a good education in other areas).
