Hello all,

It seems like forever since I've been to TWTM forums (last time was before the new look). We had some adventures, my daughter went to school for a really short amount of time, and now she's back at home.

We've been doing Professor B math, and I need something for geometry. The only formal instruction in geometry that she's received was at school when they learned about triangles and angles. She's in grade 6, is 11 years old, and is pretty good with math.

Any suggestions?

Welcome back! Maybe TT (http://www.teachingtextbooks.com/).

a high-school geometry program? Or something more designed for Grade 6? I have not used this, but I believe that RightStart has a Geometry program. Also, we used Chalkdust for Pre-Algebra, and there is good coverage of Geometry concepts in their Pre-Algebra book. Chalkdust also has a high school Geometry program. These are DVD based using standard textbooks. IMO, Chalkdust has great teaching and is a solid program. We plan to stick with it all the way through.

I was thinking anything that she could do while in grade 6, but if there are great resources for the higher grades, I'll look those up, too.

At one point, I thought I read about a program that took you from zero knowledge to grade 8 level, but the hs supply store I used to buy my "stuff" from (great catalogue with detailed descriptions) is out of business :(, so I don't have a handy place to look up resources.

I'm considering using it for 6th along with our regular math program, perhaps spread over 2 years.

You can also download a sample (RS Level Geometric Approach Sampler)...

I don't know if you want just geometry and nothing else, but if you are looking for a good all around math with geometry in it, Rod and Staff 7 or 8 is excellent. It has all the basics and algebra and geometry too. My dd loved it and it was easy to teach for me. :)

Karen,

Thanks for the links, I'll definately have a closer look at them.

Christine,

I was looking just for geometry. We use Prof B for math, and really love it, but it doesn't include geometry. I didn't want dd to hit a wall when she started highschool geometry (either as part of a whole math program, or as an individual course).

Thanks to you both.

Joyce.
