I bought Latim Primer 1 last year and haven't used it. When I watched part of lesson 1 it seemed dry as a desert. I bought based on research and recommendation of a friend - - who I now realize has a completely different philosophy than we do.

Has anyone used Latin Primer or looked it over? Is it really as dull as it seems? I am selling a bunch of things at a curriculum sale this weekend and maybe I should sell it there and get something more suited to us. I'm going to look it over again today myself, but I'd appreciate any input.

TIA

Shannon

We started with this because our homeschool consignment store gave it away. Even being free my kids didn't like it. I went to Latina Christiana and then was charmed off to Latin for Children. We came back to LC 1 and have stayed there because I learn so much from the DVD's and so do the kids.

I don't think LP is bad, but it is very boring, even more so that LC 1. If the LC 1 DVD's were not so wonderful for me I imagine my kids wouldn't have liked them, but my enthusiasm has really helped in this area.

I have a used set I bought several years ago - with VHS tapes. It's pretty dull. I didn't like how the book was laid out, either, but I think I have an older version.

I've tried to sell my set off and on over the years and haven't gotten a single inquiry, if that tells you anything.

It's in the sale pile. Maybe selling it cheaper locally will get someone to bite!

I thought the books were laid out in a confusing manner. I was always flipping pages back and forth to find the sheet I needed.

There wasn't enough teacher information for me. I had no idea what I was doing. I've heard that it's a strong program, and maybe I would've liked it more if I knew more Latin myself.

We switched to Latina Christiana, primarily because of the extensive teacher information in the Teacher's Manual. We've been through LC 1 and 2 and are now on Henle.
