How do you discuss history?

I posted earlier about discussing literature, and got some great information. I have a ds approaching 6/7th grade.

So far I've discussed history by mostly asking fact oriented questions. As ds is getting older, it's time to start broadening our discussions. Any tips for those discussions?

Have you looked at TOG (http://www.tapestryofgrace.com)? Help with history and literature discussions is one of the main reasons I use it! Having ideas for questions is one thing, but I need the answers too because my own history education didn't include discussions, connections between different events, comparison & contrast, etc.
