What do you use to get rid of the shadow?

Have you already tried a whiteboard spray cleaner? Expo has one, but there are other brands.

Are you talking about the residue that's left behind after erasing?

If so, EXPO makes a dry erase board cleaner that does a wonderful job of making the board sparkle again. I bought a bottle at Walmart for a few dollars. It only takes a couple of squirts to clean a medium sized board.

Rubbing alcohol.

I had a bottle of the Expo but I lost it, so I was looking around the house for something else to use!!

I will try the rubbing alcohol.

Thanks

You can also try coloring over it with the black marker and then erasing it. That takes off a lot of the shadows that are left behind from other colors. Sometimes it takes two times of going over it, but it usually erases everything.

Be careful, though, because this could damage the surface of the board. Hair spray is also something that could work -- I've used it before in a pinch. (The whiteboard spray is still what I would recommend though.)

You can use plain "white" toothpaste to clean a whiteboard. My son read this somewhere and we tried it when we ran out of cleaner and it worked perfect.
