I have my blog at blogger. I am using one of their premade templates (rounder 3 I think) I would love to have a 3 column blog instead of the two i have now. I found a great site with free blogger templates and they are basically the templates blogger offers, but with three columns.
My questions are as follows...
*Is there an easy way to upload the new 3 column template to my blog without loosing all of my posts and sidebar information?
*If there is no easy way, then is it just a matter of manipulating the html code of my old template to look like the new 3 column one? I have created a "new" blog with the new 3 column template and was planning on cutting and pasting and such. Do you think that would work?
As you can tell by my questions, I am not real computer literate, but I am willing to play around a bit to get what I want and humble enough to ask for lots of help! :o
Does anyone have experience with this and would like to walk me through it or point me in a direction?
I am just afraid of loosing my stuff.
Thanks for your help!

Okay. I have been googling like crazy and found these instructions:
How to Upload a New Blogger Template (http://k2modify.blogspot.com/2007/07/how-to-upload-new-blogger-templates.html)

I know you're all tired of seeing the same Blogger templates being used on every blog. Now there's a way to stand out from the crowd! Just simply download a FREE K2 Modify template and you're no longer lost in the sea of ordinary! Just follow these 5 easy steps:
Step 1: Choose the Blogger template that you like!
Step 2: Click on the "Download" link to download a ".txt" file!
Step 3: Log on to your Blogger account if you haven't already done so. Now you're at your Dashboard. Click on the "layout" link to your blog.
Step 4: Click on the "Edit HTML" link under the "Template" tab.
Step 5: Click on the "Expand Widget Template" box. Delete everything in the template box and replace it with all the text in the ".txt" file that you downloaded in Step 1.
Preview it and if you're satisfied with the results you can save it. Voila! You're DONE!
Always back-up your old Blogger templates by saving them elsewhere (i.e. notepad) before making any permanent changes!!
So, if I follow these instructions, then I shouldn't loose my stuff? (I can't get the bold to turn off!:o) How does my "stuff" get placed back? Is this an obvious question and I am just not getting it?

I feel like I am talking to myself, but I think I may have most of this figured out except for one thing...
How do i keep my widgits from being deleted? I am mainly concerned with my post history disappearing. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
I guess I am uploading a XML template if that makes a difference.
Anyone? Anyone? I'm desperate...well, not quite yet. ;)

I went to the one site you posted, and it was in a foreign language. I am not at all computer literate. I would be worried about losing it after trying to figure it out. You will have to share when you do finally get it!

I added a third column to my blog about a year ago. I didn't have to change the whole template. I just added the code for the second column and changed the widths of the other two. I followed the instructions here (http://betabloggerfordummies.blogspot.com/2007/02/add-third-column-to-blog.html). The nice thing is that the guy who wrote them with answer questions for you if you email him. He was very helpful.
Also, don't forget to create a backup of your current template just in case.
I hope this helps. After looking at all that code last year, I've blocked most of it out of my mind.
