View Full Version : Looking at my Sonlight catty--How can I make Core 4 more "world history?"

Just thinking--
We will probably use a lot of the Core 3 books this year, alongside SOTW 3, kind of a World History With an American Focus. When we get to Modern History for grade 5, I'd like to flip that, doing American History in a World Context.
So, besides reading SOTW 4 with Core 4, where could I get a list of books that I could add to Sonlight 4 in order to do a more world history focus? Does that even make sense?
Would the AG for SOTW 4 have some good ideas? What else?

How about adding in some of the core 1 or core 2 SL books or the SL 6 and 7 cores if your child is more advanced? I think SOTW is used in SL 6 and 7, so maybe some of those books might flow better.

Or, your idea of looking through the SOTW 4 activity guide for more books is good too. Sounds like a lot to do in one year though!

A good book to add would be:
Abraham Lincoln's World, Expanded Edition by Genevieve Foster and Joanna Foster. This book would cover world history from the time of Lincoln's birth through his death.

We'd "prune" the Sonlight list a little, I think--we've actually already read some Sonlight 4 books (about 5?), so it probably wouldn't be too much--dd is a pretty voracious reader, anyway.
