Anyone really good at Internet searches? Or knows about Greek names?

I'm trying to find out what Attica means. All I can find out is that it is an area of Greece, and Athens is the capitol. I want to know what Attica actually means though. I have found that Attica has a former name of Actaea which is found in Greek Mythology. But again, I don't know what that means. Actaea was renamed Attica after Atthis, daughter of Cranaus.

I am specifically wanting to know what the names mean, beyond just "an area of Greece", or "the daughter of Cranaus". And why would Atticus be a male name when it comes from a female mythology person?

I also read it means ethical, but couldn't find it on a real site anywhere (that was on a message board).
