We've had 2 tours of UD. The campus has a mixture of old and new buildings but every building seems to be brick front. Our first tour was this past fall, a 2 hr walking tour. While the campus is in the downtown area of Newark there are large green spaces, walking trails, and many tall trees. We learned that if you play in the water fountains you will be reprimained and on the 2rd time you will be dismissed from the school.

We visited several dining areas---the kids can purchase a meal plan giving them so many $$ or meals at the fast food places and dining halls and lounges found throughout campus. We stopped into a lecture hall, small in size and maybe holds 60 kids, and passed by several classrooms.

The visit to the dorm room found the student sleeping in her bed --- the chosen room that is visited is altered by day and hour so the tour gets to see an actual room --- poor girl, a mechanical engineering major who said she had several midterms that day and was trying to catch some sleep before the weekend. The room was beyond tiny. With 2 beds, 2 desks, 2 dressers there was barely any room to walk. The only place to sit would be on a bed.

The tour guide was articulate and while her home was close by she chose to live on campus. Ironically she's a Statistics major and shared how AP Stat was the course that got her interested in Statistics. (I teach AP Stat).

I feel UD's policy to give college credit for AP courses to be quite generous and clearly defined. Our tour guide volunteered that she took 4 AP courses earning her 24 credits or equivalent to 1-1/2 semesters. (30 credits is what one typically earns freshman year at UD).

A couple weeks ago we toured the Biology department at UD. Our tourguide is a newly made friend who supervises the microbiology labs. Having UD practically in our backyard makes visits to this school quite easy. If anyone is coming to UD for a visit, please PM me!
