View Full Version : New Poll on origins of the universe

Since I made the mistake of lumping cosmology and the development/creation of life in one poll, I'm doing a separate one for the origins of the universe. This is one where I'm sure to miss something, so I'll be sure to put in an other.

now what caused that big bang to happen? that's where i believe God comes into it. :)

I'm in the "God created it all, but I don't know (or care, for that matter) about the time frame" camp.

I picked Big Bang, but at the same time I would also choose "have no clue as we've no real way of knowing or telling for sure". I certainly don't feel the big bang was caused by a god though.

I understand--but I could only put so many options. While I do believe God created it, I'm also partly in the "have no clue" camp as I'm also in the Gap theory group of life, etc., although greatly modified into what seems to be my own version, unless/until I meet someone else who thinks like me. But I tend to be in a small minority in many things.

I'm also believe God created it, but not sure how long it took him. Is his 6 days the same as mine. Dunno.
I figure either God has been around forever or something ELSE has been around forever.

I'd rather believe in the eternal God, than eternal dirt.

I needed a "select all that apply" option. God, yes. Big bang? Maybe, I dunno. Six days? Maybe, I dunno. How long? I don't believe it matters. ... But yes, I believe God (or, if one prefers, I'll accept "Intelligent Designer") was behind it all, however He chose to bring it all about...

I'm not sure. I believe it is a combination.
I agree with abbeyej that we need an all that apply option.
Obviously some sort of Big Bang?
Started by a larger power/God?
Life energy flowed into the field of time?
Joseph Campbell's Origins of Myth, and all that. ;)

Oh, my gosh, that's a great idea. But I don't think I can edit the poll now as it's been started. But I do understand as sometimes polls don't have an option I would choose, either.

Ditto.

When I say I don't know the time frame, that implies he could have created the world via a "big bang". Bottom line for me is that God is the author. The how and how long are irrelevant to me.
