The teacher filling in for me next week for my music co-op class for ages 7-9 wants some dvd recommendations. The problem is that they can't have a lot of "magic" content in them (i.e. Fantasia), or other questionable content. Having not seen Beethoven Lives Upstairs or Mr. Bach Comes to Call myself, I'm not sure of the content. Other ideas could be for ballet or opera selections on dvd/video for children.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks. :)

Off the top of my head, just about all of them will be magical. I am thinking about ballets in particular: Nutcracker, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc
How about Handel's Messiah?? The Easter section might be appropriate for the coming season.
Can you do a musical like Sound of Music, Oklahoma, or Fiddler on the Roof?

we rented this to watch not too long ago, and we were quite surprised at how dark some of the story was. I would suggest Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, but there is some reference to the Rape of the Sabines (though the word rape isn't used).
What about My Fair Lady?
We just also watched The Court Jester with Danny Kaye. My son was laughing like crazy. Lots of comedy of errors and such. And, yes, there is music in it.
