View Full Version : Dogs: I've been down cleaning blood off the floor twice today

I think one dog is quicking the other when they go at each other. But not on the end of the nail, like when you quick them as you cut the nail and it gets too short. It's on the "flat" part of the nail - where you can see the white on the under side of the nail.

We are doing all that we can to not let them fight/play. It is turning my normally calm trusted 15 yo dog into a slightly aggressive dog when it comes to food. Sometimes thought they get it each other before we know it. Thankfully, the blood has been on the laminate floor and not too much on the carpet! Right now one dog is in the crate and the other is outside. (We only have one crate for the younger dog.)

Any ideas how I can keep this from happening? The bleeding I mean.

DH has a styptic pencil. If I get that, will it work against the next time or only stop the bleeding this time?

TIA!

I think it only stops the bleeding at the time. I'm a little confused - is the fighting when they are fed? I would feed them separately - feed one dog in the crate. Only let them be together if there is no food around. If food isn't the issue, then I might just rotate their time to be out and about.
