The good, the bad, the ugly, the stuff I can't think to ask...;)
Thanks!

Bump, I would also like the answer to this one. Also considering chalkdust for a 6th grader.

I just purchased it... I can probably answer some questions, but our experience with the program is still pretty early :D

Well, I guess I'm bowing out, anyway. I made it to the attic tonight to find that I not only have a very good used BJU Math 6, but also the Charts, a complete set of Tests, and the Reviews book to boot (with a few pages missing, but, hey, it's free!). Guess that means I'm good to go, and need to just stick with what I have.
Feel free to continue without me!

CD 6th grade didn't work for us, but I honestly think the problem was with my kid, not the program.
*I* really liked CD. I thought the explanations were very clear and complete. I think it would lay an excellent foundation. My younger dd would occasionally watch with my older ds, and I think she liked it, too.
However, it did not go well with my ds. At all.
This particular ds is slightly dyslexic. So, while he had done fine with Singapore up until then, CD nearly threw him into a tailspin. I think CD made me see how much he needs a real live person to sit down and explain things to him one on one. I think trying to follow along with Mr. Mosley on the chalkboard was too difficult for him, due to the dyslexia. I think moving from a workbook format with Singapore to a non-consumable book was an extra challenge as well. And, to be honest, I think I assumed that I could be completely hands-off with math and expected complete independence - which he just wasn't ready for.
So, most sixth graders would not have difficulty copying problems out of a book as my ds did. Most dc are not going to have difficulty following along with someone writing at a chalkboard. Most dc can watch a video and learn, and don't need the personal interaction my ds does. And, when I sat down and basically rehashed Mr. Mosley's explanations, he was able to understand just fine.
FWIW, I haven't sold it yet. I'm holding on to it, because I do like it, and I do think it's something my other dc might use someday.
