If you buy re-usable bags with a store's name on them - do you take them into other stores? I have Whole Foods bags and I want to use them more - when I go to Lowe's Foods and Trader Joe's but.... lol I don't want to get bags for each store I shop at because that is just way too much to think about.

Of course. I use bags from German bookstores, various shipbuilders, the German coastal lifeboat service, etc. I figure that I'm saving the store a few cents on every plastic bag I don't use. No where I shop provides a discount for cloth bags (yet). So if I don't have a bag with their logo, too bad.

I use my Trader Joe bags everywhere. I'd love if Albertson's asked me about it. I'd say, "Hey, improve the quality of your bags and I'll buy yours too." :D

I have not worked up the nerve to do that yet. All we have is Kroger and Wal-Mart on this side of town, and our Wal-Mart people really don't strike me as the type of folks who would be amused when I mess up their plastic-bags-on-a-turntable system by slapping my bright blue Kroger bags on the counter for them to fill for me!

I should do it anyway. My answer thus far has been to avoid Wal-Mart unless I absolutely have no choice.

Hey, Target has the reusable bags now too. My daughter came home with one not long ago.

Yep, use them wherever.

Our local grocery store had the cheapest bags, so they're the ones we keep in the car. Someday I'll buy some designer bags if I really get a good habit going and these grocery store bags don't last. Nobody has mentioned the grocery store's name so far.

I just got whole foods bags, too, and I plan on taking them everywhere with me!

I use my Trader Joe's bags whenever I go grocery shopping now. They're great bags! :) Occasionally I have other bags in there too (if it's a paper bag I ended up with that hasn't fallen apart yet, etc), and they never say a word, just fill 'em up for me. :) I've also seen other people come into TJ's with Whole Foods bags, etc, and it's not a problem.

I haven't taken my bags to Target. Lol... Maybe I should try and see what happens. ;)

I use my Vitamin Cottage bags every where, but IKWYM about Walmart. I try not to go there either and if I only have a few items I let them use my bag(I keep one that folds up in my purse), but if there are a whole bunch I go with theirs.

Everyone so far is very glad I have my own bags.:) We can all appreciate our over crowded landfills.

Yes. I've not had a negative comment though I seem to always take the competitor bag no matter which I shop.

I take my reusable bags in many different stores. Even if it is not "their" bag, I still get a rebate (about 5 cents per bag) for bringing in my own bag.

Yes. I have some Wegmans and some Aldi. I actually like the Aldi bags better because they are much larger, so I usually stuff some Wegmans bags in them! Nobody has ever said anything, so I guess it's fine with them!

I have "non-branded" reusable bags but I used to have some with a stores name on them. I took them everywhere and the only comment I usually got is because they thought I was a Loon for bring my own bags :p

I now use my non labeled bags that I got from reusablebags.com (got them because I wore my other ones out and these are workhorses) and I even take them to Walmart, they really don't like me because of their turntable deal someone mentioned but oh well tough. If they don't like my bags then I'll take my business elsewhere and I have. I had one cashier complain so much halfway through my order (which was about $150 by then) I told her you know what just void this out and I'll unpack it all and go somewhere that they appreciate my business. The manager was steamed too but maybe they should teach their cashiers to not complain under their breath about things. I was after all helping by having her set the things on top of the turntable and I was packing them.

I've also taken them to target and I always offer to pack them myself it's a hassle. The more natural food stores I've gone to love them, and the biggest lover of my bags is the Military Commissary the baggers their love them because they are as large a paper grocery bag but 3-4 times a strong so they can really pack them full.

I say Go forth and be PROUD of your reusable bags! :D

...at Trader Joes, Safeway, anywhere! No worries! And FWIW, I rarely shop at WholeFoods, but they were one of the first stores to market re-usale bags, so I bought 4 of them there about 2 years ago. One is finally beginning to tear, so I bought my first Trader Joe's re-usable bag over the weekend...That's where I do 80% of my grocery shopping, BTW.

See? I need to be more like you. Wal-Mart cashiers just tend to be so bothered and unhappy and so I am a little scared of them.

I should just buck up and take the dang bags to Wal-Mart.

Do I just say "Hey, I don't want the plastic bags. Let me pack it myself." or do I let them pack the stuff in my cloth bags? I can't see how they would as that super-duper turntable dealie takes up the whole counter space.

Oh, if you have the chance, I'd get bags from Harrods in London and take those everywhere! :D

I don't have a Walmart near so I'm not sure how their system works, but I usually pack my stuff onto the conveyor belt and have my cloth bags in hand. When it's my turn I hand them the bags and say, "I'd like to use my own bags, please." I offer a great big smile and ignore their sour looks.

Just keep smiling, Kelli. Pretend you don't notice their feeling of being inconvenienced. I suppose they either get over it or think I'm a complete ding-bat. Either way, I'm okay with it. :D

My Whole Foods bags go everywhere with me. Of course, I only shop WF and the dreaded WalMart.

Kelli...it's quite a treat to slap your reusable bags up there at WM. LOL I get a funny, puzzled sort of look. Then I was actually asked "you want your stuff in these bags?" Uh, yes. That IS why I put them there and said "I have my own bags" :rolls eyes:

I loathe WM/stuff mart, I really really do..so I take probably a bit too much delight in cheerfully handing my nice, pretty, reusable bags up there to interfere with their little plastic bag carousel :p

I like Crissy's attitude...Pretend you don't notice their feeling of being inconvenienced. I suppose they either get over it or think I'm a complete ding-bat. Either way, I'm okay with it. Yep, I'm ok with that too heehee
