Need suggestions for a book on rocks and minerals...

My dc today decided that they wanted to go on a rock hunt to find interesting rocks. We do have a small handbook guide to rocks/minerals, but I was looking for something easier to read that's to the point. Any ideas?

If you want something that talks about identifying and sampling for younger kids, try "Be Your Own Rock and Mineral Expert". I found it at my library. HTH
