View Full Version : Encouraging or finding direction for our students - most rec. career test?

Thinking aloud here....

I realize that my transcript post is a bit premature...

To decide which high school courses our dc should take, we are supposed to contact the colleges which they might like to attend.

Seeing that there are I'm not sure how many in the US (thousands?), we have to narrow down our choices.

This means we/they need to have figured out some general life direction by the upper high school level years, so that we contact the right ones (generally speaking).....though I'm so nervous that I want to do it now...

Sooo, have any of you given your dc any kind of career test? (I remember that we got one for my older son which cost $300 and was completely useless in its suggestions). I don't want to waste money and time, so I'm looking for suggestions....

My ds knows only what he doesn't want to do - doctor or vet (doesn't like blood), and plumber (too stinky!). He had been thinking architect/ engineer but is wavering and I'm trying to figure out plans for the future!

That leaves umpteen hundred choices of schools still...

Most grateful for any ideas,
Joan
