I'm looking ahead to next year for my daughter who will be 8. At the end of last year she placed overall in 4th grade per the WJIII achievement test, with the strongest being in reading, spelling, etc. She is not as advanced in math and science, nor are they her strong interests.
I am looking at the following and wondering if I will doing overkill in language arts:
Singapore Math 3A/B
My Pals Are Here Science 4A/B including the Higher Order Thinking Skills
SOTW 3
complete the 3rd/4th grade geography/map skills workbook we are now using (couple times a week)
homeschool swim weekly, aikido weekly, twice a week PE class at Y
Vocabulary Vine for Greek and Latin roots
Spelling Power (already using and going well)
Growing with Grammar 4 (doing level 3 this year and working well)
possibly continue copywork to encourage cementing of cursive (may just blend in with other subjects)
Classical Writing Aesop level A (she is really not one for writing on her own much at all)
continue with reading and books on tape with discussion, may do a formal 3rd grade literature course like that offered by K12
if my friend can find the texts she used
Looks like we will have Girl Scouts and then hands-on art, group music (vocal, perhaps basic instrument), and elementary Spanish through a new co-op meeting 3 afternoons a month fall and spring.
I was thinking of adding in Primary Analogies 3 as I can get it basically free and I see that K12 includes it for enrichment at this level. Too much/unnecessary with all the other material we are using?
