have you ever found them with little bitty fuzzy spots on them and then still rinsed them and let them keep sprouting? I mean, I took mine out, rinsed them and rubbed them with my hands to get the fuzzies off and then put them back in the sprouter. Do you think they'll still be okay?
IDK why I am having so much trouble with my sprouts this time...

They may have gotten too warm, and have grown a fuzzy kind of mold.
Wanna know how I know this???:) It was quite unpleasant.
I'd start over. Rinse them more frequently, and move them to a cooler location IF you think this may have been what happened.

If it is what I think you are refering to, they are just root hairs and are okay to eat with this. Usually at this stage, I rinse and put in the fridge and begin eating them.
Enjoy!

I think the difference is the mold grows around the sprouts in a hair like matrix mostly on top and the root hairs grow from the sprouts themselves.
Does this make sense?

I agree. If it's mold that you are talking about, I would start over. Better safe than sorry.

As much as I hate to do it, I guess I'll start over.
Now, how often do you guys RINSE your sprouts, and where do you keep them?

Do the seeds keep for a year or two in a normal kitchen cabinet in an airtight container?

That said, I would probably store the seeds for years, no kidding. If they didn't sprout, then they didn't sprout. I store everything in glass jars.
Are you getting all the water out when you rinse the sprouts? What are you using to sprout in? I rinse my sprouts several times a day- a minimum of 4 times, and I rinse them more than once at each rinsing.
I usually sprout in a somewhat darker area of the kitchen with good air flow. FAR from any direct sunlight.

We love sprouts and usually grow them all summer long.
We use a quart canning jar with a green sprout lid. We rinse them once a day leaving them on the counter top on a downward angle in a bowl for drainage. The seeds should not sit in standing water. We also cover the jar with a towel. After about 4 or 5 days, when the sprouts are done, we rinse and store them in the fridge in a plastic container. They only keep few a short time maybe a couple of days.
My seeds are stored with all my other garden seeds which I keep for years sometimes. Usually in an envelope in a coffee can. (sometimes a glass jar). I do not like putting seeds in airtight containers as this can encourage mold growth.
