After having looked at many different textbooks (Dolciani, Forrester, Lial's & Larson), dd decided on Larson. She also really liked the demo tape of Dana Mosely on Chalkdust. I had reluctantly decided to order from Chalkdust, but kept putting it off. I wasn't keen on paying $515 for their Precalculus package (hardcover 3rd ed., DVDs, and solutions manual).
I started looking around and went to the publisher's website. What do you know, they had a 4th edition. I was able to order the hardcover AP edition, the Instructor's Annotated Edition, the DVD series (11 DVDs also done by Dana Mosely), the test bank, and a student CD-ROM for $175.00 less than Chalkdust charges for the older edition.
The only hoop I had to jump through was faxing them a form (which they faxed to me) verifying that I do indeed homeschool. Yahoo. I love saving money and checking another item off my list for next year.:D

That is SO fantastic! I love good deals.
Question: is Larson's PreCalc, or Lial's, something one could do after using Lial's Intermediate Algebra?
Oh, and, do you have a link for where you looked at and got this fantastic deal? Please share with us. :)

I'm not a math expert, but here's my dd's progress. She's completed Saxon Alg. 1, is finishing up Saxon Alg. 2 and TT Geometry (concurrently). Larson's Precalculus is our next step. Perhaps Jann in TX can chime in here, as she is the math guru of the board.
Here's the web page where I found the items I wanted to order:
http://college.hmco.com/CollegeCatalog/CatalogController?cmd=LP&BeanType=AncillaryInfo&Field=Ancillary&nextPage=ProductInfo.jsp&CPID=3623
To actually place the order, I called their 1-800-323-5435 and spoke to Karen D'Alexander at ext. 5433. She faxed me a form to fill out and I faxed it back the first time I ordered materials from them (several months ago). Yesterday I just had to call up and place my order. She helped talk me through the items and was just wonderful. She recommended a cheaper, but better binding not listed on the web page (hardcover vs. "college" binding).
HTH.

does the annotated teacher's edition include the step-by-step solutions? I guess I am just wondering if you what you ordered from the publisher included a solutions manual? *I,* personally, could never make it without one! LOL! Or maybe the solutions are on the student CD? Just wonderin'. We are still a few years away from Pre-Calc, anyway! ;)
Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure it does not include the step-by-step solutions, but let me take a look when I get it. I'll let you know. The publisher does offer a complete solutions manual, too.
