Currently, this is what we do:

Dd11, ds9, ds8 do their core subjects in the morning, except reading (this includes math, spelling/dictation, grammar, handwriting/copywork, writing, and Spanish for dd11. I do MFW K reading/math w/ ds5 mostly every day for about an hour in the morning (time varies!). Ds6 (the one who has gone on the academic strike!) does his own thing (no TV or video games though!) Our afternoons are for History/Science (alternates), 1 hr. of reading (1/2 hr. for ds8). I read to ds5 before his nap and dd2 before hers. Looks good, right?

This is my problem: I'm 7mos. + pregnant and by 1pm I am exhausted and have absolutely NO energy to do Science/History. I do plan to start Nature Study in lieu of formal science but my excitement is hampered by my sheer exhaustion! History is NOT getting done, Science is NOT getting done (except ds 9 who has it in co-op on Tuesdays!).

My questions: 1.Should I rearrange my schedule so that History/Science are first thing (when I have the energy) and save some core subjects for the afternoon (they do those mostly independently)? Should I give up History/Science until after baby is born (April) and just let dc choose books to read on the subjects for reading time? Should I have dh just do science experiments w/ dc in the evening or on Saturday? I can't do it all...I'm simply too tired. Don't even talk about household maintenance:eek: Thanks again for your advice. I'm off to take a nap:D

do the core subjects for 4 days a week, no history or science. then on fridays, or whatever day works for you, just do history and science for the whole morning. might not get as much done as if you were doing them daily, but would get at least some of the material covered. then after lunch take a nap while they have quiet time and maybe you'll have a tiny bit of energy for some household chores after that. (i know i don't have much energy for household chores and i'm not pregnant!)

Yes, lol. :)

Seriously...any of those would be fine, IMO. (The experiment thing with Dad would. not. happen. here, so I'd probably either have some things for them to read about those subjects, on hand, or do them first thing, before your energy is depleted.)

Hugs to you! Hang in there!
