I have the new Nascar theme stuck in my head.

Over and over again, "Boogity, boogity, boogity. Let's go racing, boys!"

Can someone help me get this out of my head?

upon which he reliquished those habits."

(memory work today - Poem by Edward Lear There was An Old Person Whose Habits. I enjoy the way Pudewa says this one in his Poetry Mem. cd.)

"I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne" -- if you really want to know.

10 points to the person who can identify the source!

(And, for the record, I have never tasted champagne.)

I have no idea why. It popped into my head a couple of weeks ago and has been running around and around ever since. Then, last night I saw just a few minutes of the Oscar ceremonies . . . just long enough to watch a new animated film based on the piece win for best animated short (I think). And it started all over again.

Sigh.

It's The Sound of Music, of course!

My son was in a dinner theatre production last summer, and I still have much of the music playing in my ears.

Sound of Music?

I enjoy champagne... just sip it slowly and set it down before you think you're done! LOL. (Maybe I'm just a lightweight...)

Specifically, one of the songs: "Journey to Calvary". The kids are getting sick of listening to me sing/play it.

"Snack, snack, eat a snack. Eat a snack with Brown and Black." Right now my boys are eating lunch, chanting, "Dad is sad, very, very sad. He had a bad day, what a day Dad had!" It's been at least 4 years since we've opened Hop on Pop, but they can all quote the whole book!

It's so frustrating too! I saw them on David Letterman awhile back and heard that song for the first time and I remember that all night long it was in my head, even while dreaming. It was so frustrating. And then last night I watched them sing it at the Oscars My dh loved the song so much that he ended up playing it on the computer after the Oscars were over. I didn't have a chance after that.

Woke up with it still in my head. I do like the song, but the tune is just very hard to get out. Arrrgh!! :)

That is definately a beautiful song. The movie was quite interesting to watch also. I couldn't get that song out of my head that night either ;)

The Dunnes Song

My 7ypds is listening to Seamus Kennedy's kid's album, (http://cdbaby.com/cd/seamuskennedy5)Gets on Everybody's Nerves (http://cdbaby.com/cd/seamuskennedy5), and that's the song that's on right now. Everytime I hear it, I can't shake it... and I'm gonna get those lyrics down if it kills me!

I once was well acquainted with a man called Mr. Dunn,
A very jovial man was he and a lot of harmless fun;
He courted well and married well at the age of twenty-one,
And soon a long, big family had Mr. and Mrs. Dunn.

Chorus:

And there was high Dunn and low Dunn, over Dunn and under Dunn,
All the little younger Dunns, in and out they run;
There was old Dunn and young Dunn and young Dunn's youngest son;
Young Dunn will be a Dunn when the old Dunn's done!

In the course of time, now, Mr. Dunn, he got himself a wife,
And very soon he found he had the hardest fight for life,
For to keep three little bellies full and a wife that weighed twelve stone,
Well, any man who could do that, you ought to say well done!

Chorus

When Mrs. Dunn presented Dunn with their first bouncing son,
They named him Herbert Duncan Dunn but called him "Cherry Bun";
And when as thick as hops they run, and many more to come,
Says Mrs. Dunn to Mr. Dunn, "More bread or we'll be done!"

Chorus

Now, here's good luck to the oldest Dunn, likewise to the youngest Dunn,
Let's hope the youngest Dunn will do as the oldest Dunn has done;
For (for) any Dunn to be a Dunn and not a vacant one,
What's done by Dunn must be well done, so well done, good old Dunn!

Chorus

Now I've got all kinds of stuff stuck in there! Since you mention Nascar, I'll say that we did the Disney Cruise 2 weeks ago, and one of the musical entertainers said something like, "We'll you know Nascar got started in the South. Billy Bob said to Jimmy Bob, "Boy, Jimmy Bob, that sure is a naaas-car!" (nice car.)" My kids have been repeating it ever since.
