My ds is trying to find the zero of the function:
f(x) = x^4 + x^3 - 3x^2 - 17x - 30

We do understand the p/q and finding all the zero through synthetic division but not sure how to start.

Thank you
Judy

List all of your possible zeros and then just choose a starting point. This is not exactly elegant, but you'll get there.

Hint: I found that -2 is a zero. That should give your ds a starting point.
